Extending from Largo do Intendente to Saldanha, The cosmopolitan and residential neighborhood of Arroios is often overlooked by tourists, yet is certainly one of the up and coming neighborhoods of the city! The avenue Almirante Reis almost extends across the whole neighborhood and is brimming with striking architecture, artistic motifs, restaurants, cafés and interesting shops selling trinkets from across the globe. Some local attractions: VIUVA LAMEGO FACTORY If you are a fan of traditional Portuguese ceramic tiles (azulejos), the Fabrica Viuva Lamego is certainly worth a visit! The facade of the Fabrica Viuva Lamego is covered in colourful tiles, mirroring the colorful nature of the city of Lisbon. If you are looking to buy some azulejos, this is the place to do so! Located at Largo do Intendente 25, this is a bit off the tourist circuit but is well worth seeking out. THE BIBLIOTECA SÃO LAZARO Founded in 1883, It is the oldest municipal library in Lisbon. With a collection of more than 20,000 documents, free wi-fi, absolutely stunning 19th century architecture, it is certainly worth a visit! MERCADO DE ARROIOS (ARROIOS MARKET) Located on Rua ngela Pinto, between Praça do Chile and Alameda Dom Afonso Henriques, this farmers market hosts fresh produce ranging from fresh fish, fruits, vegetables, to flowers and jewelry. FONTE LUMINOSA Combine your visit to the Mercado de Arroios with a visit to this fountain in the Dom Afonso Henriques park and you won't be disappointed! The Fonte Luminosa is one of the most beautiful fountains in Lisbon, the surrounding area is always peaceful, making it perfect for photos or a picnic in the park! CERVEJARIA PORTUGALIA RESTAURANT The Portugalia branch on Almirante Reis is the oldest hub of this oldest beer hall in Lisbon. The decor makes it seem like you are dining in an old castle, and their steaks with their famous Portugalia sauce are absolutely delicious! Must visit!
