Also known as Palace dos Carvalhos, it was erected at the beginning of the XVII century by the great father of Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, better known under the title of Marquis of Pombal. On the same street, you will be amazed by the baroque architecture of the imposing Convent of Nossa Senhora da Conceição dos Cardais, founded in 1681 as a female monastery of Carmelites with naked feet. After a long visit, a relaxing break at the BA Wine Bar do Bairro Alto is imposed around local cheese or charcuterie, accompanied by a glass of local Portuguese wine.
