ROUTE DESCRIPTION FROM FARO AIRPORT: -Leaving Faro airport follow signs to highway A22, direction „Espanha/Lisboa/Portimao/Albufeira“. -After approx. 9 km, take highway A22, direction „Lisboa/Portimao/Albufeira“, (NOT Olhao/Espanha !!). -Stay on this highway for 45km (do NOT take the exit to Lisboa!) -Take exit "Lagoa", then follow signs to EN125 direction “Portimao“. -After approx. 5 km take exit "Ferragudo" -Pass several roundabouts, always following the main road straight ahead. -At the 5th roundabout (you should see a „LIDL“ grocery store on the left), follow signs to „Ferragudo“ (NOT Portimao!). -At the next roundabout take the 2. exit, then at the next roundabout take the 1st exit. You will already see the beautiful little village with the church on top of the hill. -Turn right at the second street (the first is a small bridge in front of the market square) then immediately left. -Turn right at 3. street (right in front of the restaurant "Babalu“) -Go uphill (past the pharmacy on the right), then turn right into the first small, very inclined street (opposite “Café Hortinha”). -After approx. 30 m you will see a big palm tree, try to park there. -There should be a dead-end street, downhill just behind you, and the apartment building "ALIMAR" at the beginning of it.
The neighbourhood
Ferragudo is a place in the Algarve quieter, for those who want to rest outside the more touristy cities. With beaches of fantastic natural beauty, mild climate, and a more peaceful environment, cozy and close to local fishermen, making it one of the most beautiful postcards to visit the Algarve. Characterized by a hillside full of typical houses, a stone wall that divides the land, the sea that enters by a river almost to the door of the inhabitants, and the wooden boats anchored almost at random to complete the landscape, and where the background of this landscape is the city of Portimão and you can see the masts of the sailboats resting in the colorful Marina. The village of Ferragudo is recognized for its excellence, picturesque places, and friendly inhabitants, which make the place a great choice for a relaxing vacation.
Getting around
Although everything in and around Ferragudo is only a few steps from the apartment, the Algarve still has a lot to offer! As public transportation is non-existent or extremely slow, I highly recommend renting a car and exploring the Algarve independently. Use the FREE PARKING PLACES directly in front of the apartment building and explore the Algarve without stress and without schedules. Even without a car, you can easily visit Praia da Rocha / Portimão simply by taking the ferry from Ferragudo harbor to Portimão Marina. During the summer season, the ferry even goes into the night! AIRPORTS: Faro Airport (FAO) is about 45 minutes away by car (68 km). Lisbon Airport (LIS) is approximately 2.5 hours away (275 km).
