Monte dos Judeus
Our flat is located in Miragaia, one of the nicest neighborhoods in Porto. Its origins are medieval - the area was outside the city walls, so called “arrabaldes” (the suburbs), where the Jews and the Armenians from Porto used to live. That explains why our street is called "Monte dos Judeus" (Jew's Mount/Hill). In the famous celebration of the “São João do Porto” festival, Miragaia usually is the last place in town to go to bed. The party goes on and on all night long, until the morning. In the evening, Miragaia lives of its restaurants and bars, where you can quietly have dinner or enjoy a drink with some friends, sharing the superior views of the river and of the rest of the city. One of the most interesting features of Monte dos Judeus is the new “mechanized pedestrian walkways” which consists in fragmented escalators that allow you to quickly and effortlessly climb the big hill the apartment is located on. The location is very privileged because you're in the "middle" - if you go left, you're able to get to the city center to the city center in less than 10 minutes; if you go right, you can explore the beautiful seaside, beaches and Foz.
